Prime Minister Golob: "In public administration, the achievement of objectives is most often measured in terms of user satisfaction"

SLOVENIA, November 7 - Prime Minister Golob and Minister for Public Administration Franc Props participated in the conference's opening discussion, in which they spoke about the main challenges and the future of public administration. They touched on the reform of the pay system, the role of managers and employees in strengthening trust in public administration, and the importance of respect and motivation for civil servants.

The Prime Minister began by stressing that every employee needs encouragement and motivation in their work. He highlighted the importance of the public sector’s mission and the recognition of its achievements. "In public administration, the achievement of objectives is most often measured in terms of user satisfaction," he said.

The Prime Minister went on to speak about effective leadership in the public sector. "It is valuable to encourage the democratic exchange of ideas. But as a leader, you must decide which ideas to prioritise. Once a direction is set, it must be implemented," he said.

The Prime Minister also addressed the future of work in public administration, which will be strongly shaped by digitalisation and artificial intelligence. "The teams of the future will still be based on people and healthy relationships within them. We all want to be heard," he stressed, adding that good interpersonal relations among employees are key and that leaders must ensure their employee’s progress and success. "When you feel comfortable in an environment, you will be able to advance and succeed in your mission," he said.

In the final part of the discussion, the Prime Minister highlighted the opportunities that artificial intelligence brings for employees. "This is something that will shape our professional lives. Being open to what this field brings will be of the utmost importance," he said, adding that with its help, staff will be able to complete the same tasks in much less time. "We will embark on this journey together and with great ambition. Let us embrace it with courage and optimism," concluded Prime Minister Robert Golob.
