Signing of the agreement for the free transfer of land for the Ptuj Community Health Centre extension

SLOVENIA, September 22 - The Republic of Slovenia has transferred, free of charge, a 143 m2 property to the Urban Municipality of Ptuj. The property had previously been owned by the state and managed by the Dr Jože Potrč General Hospital in Ptuj. The land is essential for the project; this is where the foundations and supporting structure of the planned extension will be built.

“By transferring state-owned land and property, we are enabling municipalities to implement projects that promote development and improve services for residents and citizens. At least 900 m² of new space and 12 clinics

Through the extension of the north-western wing, the Ptuj Community Health Centre will gain at least 900 m² of additional space for the provision of primary healthcare services. The project covers the establishment of at least 12 consulting rooms or outpatient clinics for family medicine and community nursing, shared offices and an office for the head of the community nursing service, as well as the necessary technical and ancillary facilities. Access routes and the surrounding area will also be improved.

The investment addresses the growing space constraints faced by the Ptuj Community Health Centre, resulting from the acquisition of new healthcare programmes, the introduction of new diagnostic procedures and an increase in the number of professional staff. The Ptuj Community Health Centre provides primary healthcare to residents of 16 municipalities in the Spodnje Podravje region, with a population of more than 70,000, meaning that the project extends beyond local significance and represents an important investment in healthcare provision across the wider region.

According to the plans, the additional space will also bring new jobs and facilitate the acquisition of additional family medicine programmes. At least ten new jobs are planned, while the project is also expected to contribute to improved access to healthcare services, a reduction in the number of patients without a designated personal physician, and shorter waiting times.

Investment estimated at €7.2 million

The estimated value of the investment at current prices amounts to €7,213,451.27. In accordance with the contractual obligations, the project must be completed no later than four years after the agreement on the free transfer of state property is concluded.

At the signing ceremony, Mayor Nuška Gajšek underlined: “Today’s signing is an important step towards an investment that Ptuj and the entire Spodnje Podravje region need. The lack of space at the community health centre is a reality, and the extension will establish conditions for new outpatient clinics, additional healthcare programmes and better access to healthcare services. I am pleased that, following the completion of the necessary procedures, we have reached the point where the land, without which the project could not be implemented, has been transferred to the Urban Municipality of Ptuj.”

By signing the agreement, the Municipality of Ptuj has gained ownership of the land required for the construction of the extension. The project represents one of the major future investments in healthcare infrastructure in Ptuj and will enable the further development of primary healthcare services that serve the residents of the city and the wider Spodnje Podravje region.
